Nellie Jean May Reep


Nellie Jean May Reep, age 92, died Friday, September 20, 2019 in Haughton, LA. She was born October 15, 1926 in Bradley County, AR to the late Dixie Eugene (D.E.) May and Zora Bell O’Neal May. Nellie graduated from Warren Public Schools in 1944. She married the love of her life, Edward McConley (Connie) Reep on September 30, 1951 until his death on November 22, 1994. She worked at Oscar Greens’ grocery in her younger years, Krogers, Bradley County Memorial Hospital as a Ward Clerk for 25 years and as a Foster Grandparent at Warren Eastside (she was known to many children as “Grandma Nell”). She was of the Baptist faith and loved watching Sunday morning services on TV. During football season she would never miss her Razorbacks play, whether it’s on TV or listening to the games on the radio. She loved to eat buttermilk and cornbread and her Dr. Pepper.
Also, preceding her in death were sisters, Katherine May Fort, Marcell May Taylor and Betty May.
Survivors include her daughter, Connie Louan Reep Butts, husband Mike, of Haughton, Louisiana, sons, Eugene McConley Reep, wife Gayla, of Texarkana, Texas and Robert Todd Reep of Conway, Arkansas. Grandchildren Aaron Michael Butts, wife Bridgette, of Haughton, Louisiana, Loree Jean Butts Castleman, husband Hank, of Bossier City, Louisiana and Connie Michelle Butts of Haughton, Louisiana, great grandsons Taylor, Jordon, Jameson, Brantley and Jackson, her great granddaughter, and namesake, Gracelyn Mae Butts, her neighbor and friend Elizabeth Smith and a host of other grandchildren and relatives
.
Graveside service was 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 24 at Oakland Cemetery. Arrangements were by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Active Pallbearers were Aaron Butts, Taylor Rance Castleman, Jordon Aubrey Ainsworth, Jameson McConley Butts, Brantley Wyatt Castleman, Jackson Cade Butts, Mike Butts and Hank Castleman.
