Mary Jo Erwin Irby

Mary Jo Erwin Irby age 87 of Nashville, TN died Saturday, July 22, 2017 in Nashville, TN.  She was born May 12th, 1930 in New Edinburg, AR a daughter of the late Jones Hoyle Erwin and Emeline Boyce Erwin. She was a retired elementary school teacher with 29 years of service in Davidson County, a member of the Belmont First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women Circle  and Member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, Upsilon Chapter and a graduate from Peabody of Vanderbilt University.

Mary Jo’s loved her Church and reading her bible, spending time with family and friends.   She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother, a good friend, and always thinking of others first.  She touched so many lives. She was also preceded in death by her husband Jessie David Irby whom she married March 9th, 1963 in Little Rock, AR at Central Presbyterian Church and he died November 11th, 1978.

 Brothers and sisters,  James Erwin, Samuel Erwin, William Erwin, Thomas Erwin, Laura Shaw and Walter Erwin also preceded her in death.

She is survived by  a daughter Pamela Irby Shinn and spouse Robert, Lewisburg, TN.  3 grandchildren Kristen Elizabeth Hollingsworth, Katherine Elaine Crabtree and John David Crabtree all of Lewisburg, TN. 2 bonus grandchildren Michael Avery Shinn, Franklin, TN and Elizabeth Ann Shinn, Murfreesboro, TN

Funeral services were 4:00 PM Wednesday, July 26th at Frazer’s Chapel with Rev. Gary Harrison officiating. Active pallbearers were John

 David Crabtree, Robert Shinn, Brandon Hollingsworth, Cody Vernon,  Michael Shinn and Garrett Erwin. Organist was Janice Sullivan.  Burial

 was in Shady Grove Cemetery near New Edinburg, AR by Frazer’s Funeral Home.  Online guestbook www.frazerfuneralhome.com.
