Fred Harrod, Jr.

Fred Harrod, Jr. age 62, of Hampton, AR died Thursday, April 27th at his home in Hampton, AR. He was born July 21st, 1954 in Forrest City, AR a son of Barbara Smith Harrod, North Little Rock, AR and the late Fred Wyatt Harrod, Sr.  He grew up in Lonoke, AR, where he graduated  Lonoke Public Schools, he attended and graduated from the University of Arkansas at Monticello in 1977. He joined the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission in 1980, and in June of 2015, he retired from the Commission as a Captain in the Enforcement Division. He served the Commission and the State of Arkansas for 35 years, 1 month and 19 days.  He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hampton, AR where he served as a deacon.  Fred enjoyed camping, working for his church and golfing. He was also preceded in death by his sister Ramona Elizabeth Harrod.
Surviving other than his mother is his wife, Anita McChristian Harrod whom he married May 25th, 1979 in Lonoke, AR.  A son Fred W. (Trey) Harrod III, and spouse Nicole, White Hall, AR.  A sister Cindy Smith, North Little Rock, AR.  2 grandchildren Adalynn Rebekah Harrod and Abbie Anne Harrod both of White Hall, AR.

Funeral service was 10:00 AM Saturday, April 29th at First Baptist Church in Hampton with Rev. Paul Reams and Dr. Clint Ritchie officiating. Music was by Vicky Newton and Pat Newton.  Burial was in Union Hill Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Mike Knoeds, Cole Knoedl, Mark Hodnett, Billy Brown, Jonathan Wood, Vernon Morris, Gary Thornton, Lee Reynolds. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Thompson, Doyle Sanders, Ricky Sanders, Todd Calloway, Joe Hairston, Gary Inzer, Barry Davenport, Michael Nutt, Bobby Oliver, Brandon Evans, Dennis Thomason and all Arkansas Game & Fish Commission Employees.
