Morris Dean Bryant

Morris Dean Bryant of Warren, Arkansas, lost his battle with cancer on Sunday, July 24, 2016, with loved ones by his side at the age of 76 at Chapel Woods Health and Rehabilitation in Warren.  

Born March 31, 1940, he was the third of five children of the late Gordon Tolbert Bryant and Gertrude Grice Bryant.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an older brother, Raymond Bryant; his father-in-law, J. W. Kelley, Jr.; and two beloved granddogs, Tinker and Cocoa.  He was a gentleman, a Baptist, and an individual blessed with good parents and a desire to always be fair to his fellow man.

Morris Dean followed in his father’s footsteps by choosing a career with Potlatch Corporation, where he would later become Plant Services Superintendent.  It was at Potlatch that he met his wife of 43 years, the former Debbie Kelley, whom he married on July 20, 1973.  He opted to take advantage of an early retirement program in 1991 and had over twenty years to enjoy some of his favorite hobbies, including golf, horse racing, and collecting vintage fishing lures.

A loving, caring, and supportive husband, father, and grandfather, Morris Dean is survived by his wife Debbie; one daughter, Leslie Reep and husband Keanon of Warren; one granddaughter, Karley Zena Reese Reep of Warren; mother-in-law, Frances Kelley of Warren; one brother, Garland Bryant and wife Bobye Ann of Warren; two sisters, Shirley Smalling and husband Dennis of Rogers, Arkansas, and Barbara Johnson and husband James of Warren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral service was at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, at Frazer’s Chapel with Rev. Gene Boyette officiating. Misty Reynolds gave the eulogy. Linda Barrett was organist. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Nathan Harrod, Baxter Harrod, Bailey Harrod, Jeff Cathey, Noah Reynolds and Tim Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers were Darren Bryant, Jimmy Dale Barnett, R.V. Warner, Clinton Jayne, Dr. David Chambers, Dr. Althea Conley, Dr. Joe H. Wharton, Tammy Hensley, Nancy Greenwood and John Garmon.
