Margaret E. Jones, 86, of Wilmar, died Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at her home.
Born July 25, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Otto and Velma Jones.
She was a graduate of Chicot County High School in Dermott, attended AM&N now UAPB and graduate of Pine Bluff Cosmetology School. She was the owner/operator of the first beauty shop in Wilmar.
She was a member of Greater Shady Grove AME Church in Wilmar, serving as church secretary, steward, trustee, stewardess, WMS president, lead singer in the Gospel Chorus, janitor and chairman of the kitchen committee.
She was also preceded in death by her husband Preston Ragland, siblings Eddie Davis, Myrtle King, and Mildred Bass.
Survivors:
Children- Glenda Blake (Robert), Carol Jones-Hooper, Theresa Shipp, Phyllis Jones, Harold Jones, and Reginal Brooks (Sharon),
Stepsons- James Ragland (Barbara), Michael Ragland, and Preston Fitgerald Ragland
Siblings- Lamar Jones (Elmarie), Joe Jones (Angela), Georgia Hammock Eurnice Shorter, Sharon Henderson, Ottis Jones (Brenda), Marie cleveland and Bobbie Webb
God daughter/son- Orlando and Ellen Reed
16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends
Funeral services were July 23rd at Greater Shady Grove AME in Wilmar with Rev. Kelly Green officiating and Rev. James Hooper eulogist. Burial in Wilmar Cemetery with arrangements by Hammons Funeral Home of Warren.
