Shannon Groves age 69, of Bradford, AR died Thursday, January 21, 2016 at his home. He was born September 6th, 1946 in Dumas, AR a son of the late Jesse Thomas Groves and Evie Lee Paige Groves. He was a life-long truck driver, he loved to horse trade and swap deals with people. Shannon truly enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandchildren. He was a United States Navy Seabee serving in Vietnam, was a member of the Arkansas National Guard and First Assembly of God Church. Also preceding him in death was his brother Sherman Groves.
Survivors include his wife, Jerri Carr Groves whom he married August 22nd, 1970 in Dumas, AR; 2 daughters Crystal Renee Headley and spouse Rayburn, Possum Grape, AR and Kristie Lynn Edwards, Possum Grape, AR. A brother Jesse Groves, JR, Warren, AR and 6 sisters Doris Helton and spouse Harvey, Warren, AR; Vickie Reynolds and spouse Billy, Warren, AR; Shirley Hampton, Warren, AR; Wilma Howard and spouse Barney, New Edinburg, AR; Loretta Bartrow, Pine Bluff, AR; and Glenna Norman, Warren, AR. 4 grandsons Cristian Loyd, Riley Loyd, Tyler Edwards and Austin Edwards. 2 granddaughters Katrina Mason and Destiny Loyd.
Funeral service was 1:30 PM Wednesday, January 27th at Frazer’s Chapel with Rev. Michael Gardner officiating. Linda Barrett was organist. Burial was in McFarland Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were John Gardner, James Gardner, Anthony Gardner, Andrew Gardner, Darren Hampton and Adrian Pacheco. Honorary pallbearers were Michael Westerbuhr, James Westerbuhr, Steve Williams, David Headley and Wayne Headley.
