Charles Green Thornton, age 78, of Banks, AR, died Saturday August 1, at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello, AR. Born April 21, 1937, in Bradley County, AR, a son of the late Charlie Green Thornton and Wadie Smith Thornton he was retired from the U.S. Air Force and member of Saline Baptist Church.
Survivors are 2 daughters Renee Reaves, Kannapolis, N.C. and Kelly Rawls, Conway, AR. 1 brother Billy Joe Thornton and spouse Wilma, Warren, AR. 1 sister Charlene Ferguson, Star City, AR. Sister in law Hilda Thornton, Warren, AR. 3 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. His caregiver and niece Kim Hannum and Dion and Jacob. Also preceding him in death were brothers Leroy Thornton, W.J. Thornton, Leon Thornton, Harold Kenneth Thornton; sisters Rachel Taylor, Louise Camp.
Funeral service was 2:00 p.m. Friday August 7, at Saline Baptist Church with Rev. Wayman Mann, Rev. Tim Saunders and Rusty Rowell officiating. Marilyn Riley was pianist and Gwen McKinney sang. Burial with flag presentation was in Saline Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Doug Thornton, Gary Thornton, Keith Thornton, Dion Hannum, Robert Camp, Jimmy Dale Camp, David Ferguson, French Wynne, Sr. and Kevin Thornton. Honorary pallbearers were Dewayne Ozment and Rusty Rowell. Memorials are preferred to Bradley County Veterans Museum; 210 North Main St.; Warren, AR, 71671.
