Lee Squires

Lee Squires passed away on June 10, 2020 at home surrounded by loved ones in Memphis ,Tenn.
Lee was born in Woodworth, Louisiana on March 12th 1926 to Albert and Mittie Squires.
They moved to Texas and later settled in Warren Arkansas.

He married Mildred Jean Lowman in June 1943. He joined the Marines and served in WWII.
He and Mildred had four children together. After their divorce, Lee settled in Memphis Tennessee.
He then married Earleen Birdsong in January 1972. They lived happily together and enjoyed fishing and traveling. Earleen preceded him in death in August of 2011.

In the last few years of his life, he became very close companions with Annette Shipley. They have
enjoyed gardening, traveling and working on special projects together. He also enjoyed many mornings
at the coffee shop with his friends.

Throughout his life, Lee was a very handy man and could fix anything he set his mind to. He spent many
years working in a variety of refrigeration and mechanic jobs. He was most proud of his years at “The Med” Regional One Medical Center in Memphis TN where he was a Maintenance Supervisor.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and wife Earleen, his siblings John Squires, Mildred Denton, Nina
Fay Hester, and Ruby Halbrooks and his granddaughter Suzanne Squires.

He is survived by all four of his children: James Lee Squires (Carole), Leesa Ann Thompson (Wayne).
John Thomas Squires, and Steven Ray Squires (Roxanne) many grandchildren, great grandchildren and a
great great grandson.

A visitation is planned in Memphis on Sunday, June 14, 2020 from 2-4 PM at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Ave.
 
Visitation and burial will be Tuesday, June 16th 2020 at 12:00PM  in Warren, Arkansas at Oakland Cemetery, all friends are invited.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Saint Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or a charity of their choice.
