Betty Doggett

Betty Doggett, age 71 of Monticello, AR died Friday, September 21th at St. Vincent Infirmary.  She was born February 13, 1947 in Malvern, a daughter of the late Dewitt “Dude” and Billy Overton.  Betty was the Assistant Director of the Senior Citizens Center in Monticello.  She also volunteered at Monticello Christian Academy teaching children to read by bribing them with Fritos.  She taught children’s church and played the piano at Life Church.  In her free time, she canned, dehydrated, or freeze dried anything that didn’t move.  Betty and her late husband, Larry Doggett, were the founders of Life Church in Monticello.  Betty was a wife, mother, pastor, teacher, mentor, counselor, giver, and a great friend and help to those who knew her.  She is survived by her daughter, Kelly Word and spouse Josh, Monticello, AR. A son Ronnie Doggett, Tulsa, OK, a brother Tommy Overton and wife Polly, a brother Donny Overton and wife Carolyn, a sister Brenda Maracle all of Malvern, AR, a sister-in-law Phyllis Williams and husband Roy of Warren, AR as well as a host of family, church family, and friends.  She loved and enjoyed her life.  She was a walking testimony for God of excellence, character, honor, humility, and integrity.
 Funeral services were Thursday, September 27th, at Life Church located at 910 Old Warren Road in Monticello, AR at 2:00pm with Rev. Anthony Williams officiating.  Burial was in Pleasant Valley Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Charlie Bryant, Eric Davis, Richard Ashcraft, Mark Groce, Matt Cotton, Dennis Overton, Jason Greiner, and Ryan Martin. Honorary pallbearer was James Barrett. In place of flowers, the family is asking memorials be made to the Life Church Building Fund, PO Box 1004, Monticello, AR 71657.  Life Church was the dream of Larry and Betty Doggett, and their family is working to make sure that their legacy continues.
