Joe Harold Burks, 73, of Warren, died Monday, April 11, 2016 at Bradley County Medical Center in Warren.
Born January 8, 1943, he was a son of the late Joe and Pearl Burks.
Joe moved to Warren from Memphis, TN. He joined Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church after his relocation. He was a proud member of the United States Army, serving the Vietnam War. He retired from the Warren School District after 30 years of service. He enjoyed fishing.
He was also preceded in death by two sons, Joe Burks and Darcius Young and great grandson Jaylen Isom.
Survivors:
His wife of 45 years: Freda "Cookie" Burks
Children: Janet Strickland (Dexter), Janice Strickland, Otis Strickland (Deisha), Tyrone Burks and Terrance Burks (Gail).
Special Cousin: Vivian Dunbar
Special friend: Mike Prowell
A host of children that he raised as his own, grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were April 18 at Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Warren with Rev. Henry D. Cox officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery with arrangements by Hammons Funeral.
