Ross attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA, and later Arkansas A&M College, Monticello, AR.
He enlisted in the Air Force, September 9, 1950. He trained at Lackland and Sheppard Air Bases and was sent to Wiesbaden, Germany HYPERLINK "http://U.S.AF" \o "http://u.s.af/" U.S.AF European Headquarters with 12th Air Force. He was assigned staff Sergeant, to the Deputy Chief Finance, Budget Division as a Budget Analyst.
Ross worked at Ellington Air Force Base from 1958-1985 as the Budget Officer. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion Post #490 where he managed the post for many years. He was a member of Friendswood United Methodist Church since 1967.
Ross was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ira E. Broome, Jr; niece Carol Houston Palmer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Marlene Broome; daughter, Traci Broome Evans, son in law Jim Evans; grandchildren, Wyatt Evans, Whitney Evans; daughter, Christina Rowe Freese all of Friendswood, TX; grandson Shelby Freese of Houston, TX; Granddaughter Bonnie Freese Mills (Jonnie); and great granddaughter, Mckenzie Timmons of Deer Park, TX; sister, Mrs. Jane Broome Thurman, of Abilene, TX; nephew, David Ross Houston of Cedar Park, TX; and great nephew, Will Houston also of Cedar Park, TX and numerous other friends and relatives who say there will never be another Ross and will miss be greatly missed.
A graveside service will be held at Oakland Cemetery on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 2:00pm with Rev. Gary Harrison officiating where his cremains will be placed between his parents at the Broome Family lot. A reception to follow at the First United Methodist Church in Warren, Arkansas.
