Loritta Jean Meador Johnson


Loritta Jean (Meador) Johnson age 71of Bluff City, AR, formerly of Hermitage, AR, passed away November 4, 2014 in Little Rock, AR of complications of COPD.  She was a member of the Bluff City Church of Christ. She was born April 21, 1943 in Bauxite, AR to Elmer Lee Meador and Goldie Barksdale Meador.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Eugene Johnson.  She is survived by her daughters, Lori Day of Bluff City, AR and Marisa Johnson Yingling (husband Will), 4 grandsons Peyton and Zane Day of Perryville, AR and Eli and Liam Yingling of Little Rock; brother Billy Joe Meador (wife Sharon) of Bluff City, and sisters Bonita Stinnett of Camden, and Linda Carman (husband Bill) of Bluff City, AR; nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Mrs. Johnson graduated from Henderson State Teacher College in 1964. She married Eugene Johnson April 4, 1965 and taught at Hermitage Elementary School for 17 years and at Warren Elementary.  She touched many lives as a teacher. She was an artist, a self-taught painter, seamstress, and craftsperson.  She sewed countless prom dresses and wedding attire, many times without a pattern, did alterations, and gave painting lessons.  Summers were spent growing tomatoes for the market and selling tomatoes and other vegetables to stores and at the Farmer’s Market in Warren.
