Elizabeth Diane Fowler

Elizabeth Diane Fowler, age 68, of Banks went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, November 17, 2019, while in her home with her son, Michael Wyman. She was the daughter of Joe L. Fowler and Clara Doggett Fowler. She professed her faith and joined the Wagnon Methodist Church at an early age. After graduating from Banks High School, Diane attended Nursing School at Southern Arkansas University, graduating in 1981. She worked as a registered nurse for over 30 years both in inpatient and outpatient settings, quickly moving into leadership positions. She returned to her beloved Bradley County where she became the Health Unit Administrator for the county for many years. She was recognized for her leadership with the Bradley County Hometown Health Coalition, which was one of many ways she served her community. Diane was a dedicated member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and the GFWC Warren Woman’s Club. She held many offices in the organization which included President of her local club and Pine Bluff District President. She fulfilled her dream of serving at the state level as the 2016-2018 GFWC of Arkansas President. Diane was also selected as Arkansas’s LEADS representative to the GFWC Leadership Conference. As an avid genealogist, Diane enjoyed researching family history and connecting with people across the country to share information. For many years she served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Williams Cemetery Association. The Williams Cemetery, located adjacent to the family farm in Bradley County, was established by her great-great-great grandfather, James Williams, in 1839, and dedicated to the community as open for public burials in 1949 by her grandfather, Joel Hunter Fowler.

The great care Diane provided to her patients and her community was comparable to the love and care she provided to her friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe L. Fowler and Clara Doggett Fowler. She is survived by her son, Michael Wyman; her grandson, Brayden Wyman; her siblings, Sandy Wilson, Tommy Fowler (Pam Fowler), and Joyce Fowler Hoover (Darin Hoover); nieces Robin Albers (Andrew), Missy Fowler, and Kara Hoover; nephew Jason Wilson; grandnieces Paislee and Tinslee Albers; and many cousins on both the Fowler and Doggett sides of her family.
