Florence Gardner Dickens

Florence Gardner Dickens age 78 of Bryant, AR died Friday, August 2nd at the Heartland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Benton, AR. She was born September 10th, 1940 in Banks, AR a daughter of the late John T. Gardner and Quinnie Ola Thomason Gardner.  She worked in the garment industry for 22 years, working for Fordyce Apparel and for Bearden Enterprise’s. She was a graduate of the Banks Public Schools Class of 1957, where she excelled in Basketball and was named most athletic.  Her original church membership was at Southside Baptist Church in Fordyce, AR for many years and in 2002 she joined Trinity Baptist Church in Bauxite, AR.   She was also preceded in death by her husband, Shelby Lee Dickens, brothers John Bryan Gardner, Bill Gardner and Jim Gardner.  Sisters, Ruby Tully, Myrtle Tillman, Ola Jean Hlavaty and Polly Gardner.
Surviving is a daughter, Delores Lewis, Bryant, AR.  A grandson, Shelby Lewis and spouse Bonnie, Little Rock, AR.
Funeral services were 4:00PM Sunday, August 4th at Frazer’s Funeral Home with Rev. Mike White officiating. Linda Barrett was organist and Lisa Tucker was soloist. Burial was in McFarland Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were James Robert Gardner, John Gardner, Michael Gardner, Anthony Gardner, Herschel Tillman, Randall Lewis, Pete Henry, and Andrew Gardner. Honorary pallbearers were the Care Staff from Heartland and Kindred Hospice.      The family would like to express their many thanks to the Heartland Care Staff for the care they extended to Mrs. Dickens.
