Michael Joe Lindsey

Michael Joe Lindsey, age 66, of Wilmar (Drew County), died Sunday, June 3, 2018 at his home.  Michael Joe was born in Davis Hospital in Pine Bluff, on March 1, 1952, to Joe Ervin and Tonia Hollis Lindsey.  He lived in Cornerville as a child and then moved to and graduated from Rison High School.  He continued to honor his alma mater by serving on the Rison Wildcat Football Chain Gang for over 30 years and eating his namesake “Joe Dog” from the concession stand at half-time.

After retiring from Cotton Belt Railroad, he lived at Peyton Place Farms in Wilmar.  He was an active member of Pauline Baptist Church and a faithful supporter of the UAM Missionary Baptist Student Fellowship.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, taking family and friends squirrel hunting, and eating breakfast and lunch at The Broken Spoke in Rye.  He was always full of joy and had a joke for every occasion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Joe Norell Lindsey, Max Raymond Lindsey and James Hollis Lindsey and one sister, Loretta Brewster.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Alice Jane Gibson Lindsey of Wilmar; one son and daughter-in-law, Rocky and Alicia Lindsey of Warren; one daughter and son-in-law, Shanna and Jim Knowles of Rison; one granddaughter, Ashtyn Leann Knowles of Rison; three grandsons, Chandler Knowles of Rison and Issac and Jonah Lindsey of Warren; one sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Robert Bryant of Benton.

Graveside services will be 10:00AM Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Prosperity Cemetery in Herbine with Bro.
