Max Edward Givens

Max Edward Givens, age 93, of Spring, TX, (formerly of Warren, AR), died Friday, April 20, 2018, at Vitas Hospice in Conroe, TX. He was born January 26, 1925, in Hermitage, AR, a son of the late Jonah Audley Givens and Zettie Kirkley Givens. Max was employed by Potlatch Corporation for 44 years. He loved his country and served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He was a member of the Arkansas National Guard, U.S. Army Reserve and retired after 30 years of military service as a Major. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Warren, serving on the Deacon Board, was a longtime chairman of the ushers and served on numerous committees. He was a past president of the Warren Rotary Club where he was a Paul Harris Fellow. Max enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in the yard and displaying his Christmas lights. Also preceding him in death was a spouse Mabel Bryant Givens, two brothers Wayne Givens, John Givens and a sister Mildred Johnson Huitt.
Survivors are his wife Gigi Givens. Two step sons Mark Blackwood and spouse Janie, Jay Blackwood and spouse Sonya all of Houston, TX. Several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service is 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, at Frazer’s Chapel. Burial is in Oakland Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Visitation 9:00 a.m. until service time Tuesday, April 24, at Frazer’s.
