James Roger Strikland, Jr.

James Rogers Strickland, Jr, age 76, of Deville, LA, died Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at Oak Haven Community Care in Centerpoint, LA. He was born October 22, 1941, in St. George, Bermuda a son of the late James Rogers Strickland, Sr, and Muriel Bennett Strickland. Also preceding him in death was a sister Sharon Dawson. James was a retired heavy equipment operator and member of Calvary Presbyterian Church.
Survivors are his wife Linda Lu Mann Outlaw Strickland whom he married December 24, 1984. One son James Ray Strickland of Conroe, TX. Two step sons Keith Outlaw and Jerry Outlaw both of Sumpter, AR. Two step daughters Lisa Outlaw Lasyone of Deville, LA, and Lori Collier of Bossier City, LA. Two aunts Lois Saye of Baton Rouge, LA, and Vera Strickland of Nahunta, GA. Ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. A host of nieces, nephews and cousins, including a special niece Kimberly McQuhae. A sister in law Maggie Daughenbaugh and spouse Al of Houston, TX.
Funeral service was 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 14, at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Johnsville, AR, with Rev. Wayman Mann officiating. Paige Grider was pianist, Gifford Godfrey and Ron Bethea were guitarist and soloist were Linda Strickland and Brent Mann. Arrangements were by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Steve Paul, Scott Montgomery, Justin Aldy, Clay Lowry, Amadeo Castillo, Ron Bethea and Sonny Bethea. Honorary pallbearers were Gifford Godfrey and Rev. Troy Pritt.
