Billy Ray "Bill" Carter, Sr.

Funeral services for Mr. Billy Ray "Bill" Carter Sr., age 82, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 12, 2017, at the Walnut Road Baptist Church, Springhill, LA, with Rev. Randy Murphy and Rev. Jake Vandenberg officiating. Graveside services, with his son-in-law Jim Kennedy officiating, will follow in the Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Visitation will be held Saturday, February 11th, 2017, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home.

Bill was born on December 10, 1934 to Orlan Price and Edna Novella Wells Carter in Warren, AR and passed away on Friday, February 10, 2017 in Taylor, AR. He was a resident of the Springhill area for 54 years and was the founder and president of Bill and Ralph's Inc. He was a longtime director of Citizen's National Bank; was an active member and deacon of Walnut Road Baptist Church and was a member of the Gideon's International. He was a member of the Springhill Masonic Lodge #348 FandAM and was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a long time member of Green's Lake Hunting Club. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be remembered by those who knew him for his unwavering faith in God and his love and devotion for his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judy Barnes Carter; his children, Karen Carter Kennedy and husband, Jim of Taylor, AR; Bill Carter, Jr. and wife, Kim of Taylor, AR; Terry Carter and wife, Tammy, of Shongaloo, LA; Casey Carter and girlfriend, Callie Hearnsberger of Springhill, LA; sisters, Anna Grider and husband, Gorman of Hermitage, AR; Kay Scroggins of El Dorado, AR; seven grandchildren, Scott Glass and wife, Jessica; Kristin Hearnsberger and husband, Jake; Megan Brooks and husband, Ryan; Elaina Jensen and husband, Austin; Sasha Odom and husband, Gary; Lacy Carter and her fiance', John Paranuk and T. J. Carter; eleven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Orlan Carter, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Harper, Tommy Walker, Darrel Watson, Stanley Russell, Kevin Hudson and Mickey Hodges. Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Wright, Jimmy Butler, Frank Lofton, William Null and members of the Green's Lake Hunting Club.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Walnut Road Baptist Church or to the Gideon's International.
