Joye Johnson Splawn

Joye Johnson Splawn, age 80, of Warren, AR, died Tuesday, July 19, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, AR. Born March 13, 1936, in Warren, AR, a daughter of the late Paul Doak Johnson and Zilla Mae Hyman Johnson she was a longtime secretary at First United Methodist Church. Joye was also a member of First United Methodist Church and the widow of H.O. “Sonny” Splawn, Jr. who died February 19, 2009. They were united in marriage October 1, 1954. 

Survivors are two sons Harvey Splawn, III. and spouse Marilyn of Camden, AR, and Ben Splawn and spouse Delaina of Warren, AR. One daughter Paula Splawn of Pine Bluff, AR. Four grandchildren Landon Splawn and Kaley Splawn both of Warren, AR, Benjamin Cagle and spouse Holly of Camden, AR, and Brittany Wilson and spouse Logan of Hot Springs, AR. Seven great-grandchildren. 


Graveside service was 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 22, at Oakland Cemetery. Active pallbearers were John Cuthbertson, Robert Cuthbertson, DeWayne Ashcraft, Perry Watkins, James Kitchens, Dr. Kerry Pennington, Norman Word and Odell Wolfe. Honorary pallbearers were Tommy Burrow, John Kidwell, H.P. Reaves, Jim Wheeler, Dr. Bob Smalling, Ken Simmons, Frank Chancellor, Dr. Joe H. Wharton and Heath Reep. A memorial service followed at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 22, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Harrison officiating. Richard Ellis was organist. Arrangements were by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Memorials are preferred to First United Methodist Church; 111 W. Church St.; Warren, AR, 71671.
