Jean Calvert Briant

Jean Calvert Briant, age 86, of Warren, AR and Monticello, AR, died Friday, January 29, at Chapel Woods in Warren, AR. Born June 16, 1929, in Warren, AR, a daughter of the late Louie Calvert and Lela Amelia Gossien Calvert she was a former employee for Pacific Bell, a former seamstress with Jack Winter, former owner and operator of Briant’s Music and member of Christian Fellowship. Jean was the widow of John Franklin Briant who died January 7, 1983. They were united in marriage July 2, 1946. Also preceding her in death were sons John Douglas Briant, Glen Briant; brothers Edward Calvert, Harrell Calvert; sisters Sibyl Haynes and Meta Mills.

Survivors are two sons Andrew “Andy” Briant (Terrie), Monticello, AR, Robert “Bobby” Briant, Ft. Smith, AR. Two daughters Dr. Laura Evans (Andy), Warren, AR, Janis Mennite (Dominick), Scotts Valley, CA. Two brothers Delbert Calvert and Howard Calvert both of Warren, AR. One sister Jerry Neely (Jay), Herbine, AR. 3 grandchildren Donny Brown, New Edinburg, AR, Cheryl Wells (James), Warren, AR, Melody Walsh (Rick), Houston, TX. 5 great-grandchildren Emily Wells, Jamey Wells, William Wells all of Warren, AR, Destiny Brown, Kingsland, AR, Isaac Walsh, Houston, TX.

Funeral service was 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, at Frazer’s Chapel with Rev. Wayman Mann officiating. The Briant Family provided the music. Burial was in Moseley Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Gene Calvert, Dean Calvert, Donny Brown, Andy Evans, Dominick Mennite, James Wells and Josh Word. Honorary pallbearers were William Wells, Jamey Wells and Isaac Walsh.
