Mildred DeArmond Chenault O'Neal

Mildred DeArmond Chenault O’Neal, 93, of Warren, AR, left to be with the Lord on Saturday October 3, at her home at Maple Esplanade in Harrison, AR. Mildred was born April 7th, 1922 in Corinth to Louis Golde and Amy Barker DeArmond. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Friendship Sunday School in Warren.
Mildred received her early education in Warren and Little Rock, AR.  She later attended Vincent’s Business School in New Orleans, LA. She worked for the U.S. Engineers in New Orleans before, during and after WWII, receiving a letter of commendation from the War Department (now Dept. of Defense) for her work on a special project for the war effort while there. She also worked for Frisco Lines and Illinois Central Railroad for 10 years before returning to Warren in 1955. It is then that she began working for Southern Lumber Co., which later merged with Potlatch. She retired as an executive secretary for the Vice President of Wood Products in 1985. She also served as Justice of the Peace in Pennington Township, Bradley County for 8 years.
Mildred, known as Nan to her many descendants, was a loving and caring woman who would do anything she could to assist her family and friends. She was strong and educated and took pride in herself and her family and their many accomplishments and successes. Her many years on this earth were a blessing to us all and she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her son, LTC Michael S. Chenault (Ret) and his wife Judy, of Harrison; four grandchildren, Michael Z. Chenault and wife Peggy of Fayetteville, Davis C. Chenault and wife Vera of Little Rock, Stephen K. Chenault and wife Kathy of Little Rock, and Nicole Chenault McMurry and husband Tony of Sherwood; four great granddaughters, Claire, Rachel, Sophia and Amelia; seven great grandsons, Neal, Dakota, Pete, Aidan, Wilson, Henry and Wyatt; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Martin O’Neal; her parents; four brothers, Louis, Davis, Curtis and Charles; and one sister, Inez DeArmond Stout.
Graveside service 10:00 a.m. Tuesday October 6, at Oakland Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Monday October 5, at Frazer’s.
