James Lee Mullins, 90, from Warren, Arkansas, departed this life Sunday, August 23, 2015 in Little Rock, Arkansas with his family by his side. He was born August 13, 1925, in Haslam, Texas, to Lee and Minnie Barnett Mullins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Vada Mullins, Lucille Mullins Clanton, and Gladys Mullins Holbrook, and his loving wife of 67 years, Helen Lowe Mullins.
He is survived by his son, Jim Mullins, and his wife, Donna of Fayetteville, Arkansas; two Granddaughters, Robyn Mullins Taylor and husband Rod, of Elm Springs, Arkansas; and Michelle Mullins Peevy, of Montgomery, Alabama; one grandson, John David Mullins and his wife Becka, of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and five great-grandchildren: Blake, Sarah and Brandon Taylor; Kaylee Dean Peevy, and Kaitlyn Ann Mullins; and his beloved 14 year old dog, Gabby.
He served our country in WW II in the United States Navy, aboard The USS Oceanus, in tours across the Pacific. Affectionately known as "Porter" to many friends, he worked at Potlatch Corporation several decades. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Warren, and enjoyed the fellowship of his Sunday School class, and was an active leader in another weekly fellowship group of men and women for several decades.
There was a memorial service honoring his life at 2:00 Saturday, August 29, at Frazer's Funeral Home in Warren, Arkansas led by Bill Wisener, a long-time family friend and Linda Barrett was the organist. Honorary pallbearers for the service were; Gerald Burton, John Cuthbertson, Conrad Deal, Charlie Ezell, Kenny Kelly, Eddie O’Neal, T-Roy Reep, Ray Ryburn and Shelley Sontag.
