Mary Ellen Rivers Bryant


Mary Ellen Rivers Bryant, age 86, of Warren, Arkansas, died at the Bradley County Medical Center on Wednesday, October 29 2014. She was the widow of James Gordon Bryant whom
she married December 23, 1943, in New Edinburg, Arkansas, and he died September 4, 2003.
She was a retired bookkeeper and sales manager for Gordon’s House of Music located in
Warren, Monticello, Crossett, and Pine Bluff.

Mary Ellen was born September 25, 1928, in Kingsland, Arkansas; she was the second of eight
children of Evelyn Hope Rivers and Horace Lee Rivers. She was a devoted wife, mother,
grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and church member. She is a charter member of
the First Free Will Baptist Church in Warren where she was an adult Sunday School teacher for
over 30 years. She was a Christian witness for God sharing her love for Jesus to her family and
community.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers, Horace Rivers, Jr. and
Perry Hope Rivers, and a sister, Nadine Rivers Finley. She is survived by her three daughters
and their spouses Shelby Reep and husband, Ralph; Jonalyn Reep and husband, Garry, and
Felecia Doster and husband, Greg, all of Warren; five grandchildren Angela
Reep Wyatt and spouse Steven of Clarksville; Teresa Reep Sandine and spouse Ricky of Herbine; James Garryck Reep and spouse Tenay of Warren; Celestial Reep Oglesby and spouse Abb of Ocean
Springs, Mississippi; and John Carthen Doster and spouse Danielle of North Little Rock,
Arkansas; six great-grandsons, Taylor Wyatt, Brock Wyatt, Jayson Sandine, Weston Reep,
Asher Reep, and Collins Oglesby; one great-granddaughter,
Murphy Bryant Oglesby. Mary Ellen’s siblings are one sister, Glenetta Rivers Burks and spouse, Elbert of Warren, and three brothers, Garry Rivers of Stamps; Ronald Rivers and spouse, Shelbie of Benton, and Mark Rivers and spouse, Glenda of Kingsland, Arkansas.

Mary Ellen’s funeral service was at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 1, at Frazer’s Chapel with Bro. Ricky Rauls, First Free Will Baptist Church pastor, and Bro. Mark Rivers, Stamps United Methodist Church pastor, officiating. Glenetta Rivers Burks gave the eulogy. Linda Barrett was the organist and music was by Celestial Oglesby and The Bryant Sisters. The burial was in Moseley Cemetery by Frazer Funeral Home of Warren. Active pallbearers were James Garryck Reep, John Carthen Doster, Steven Wyatt, Rick Sandine, Abb Oglesby, Taylor Wyatt, Brock Wyatt, Weston Reep and Jason Sandine. Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Reep, Randy Wiggins and Frank Burt-Deceased.
