Evelyn Gavin Thornton

Evelyn Gavin Thornton, age 81, of Warren, AR died Saturday July 19, at her home surrounded by her loving family and long loved pets. Born January 12, 1933 in Rye, AR a daughter of the late Tom Gavin and Alma Wooldridge Gavin she was a retired medical receptionist for Dr. Crow and Dr. Pennington. She provided 30 years of dedicated service to her patients and community. Evelyn lived life to the fullest as she traveled the world with her husband of 63 years. She loved gardening, being a homemaker, loving her children and grandchildren and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Also preceding her in death was a son Tommy Thornton, brother Floyd Gavin and sister Eva Dean Tarver.

Survivors are her husband Wilburn Thornton, Jr. whom she married March 4, 1951. 1 son Allan Thornton and spouse P.J. of Bryant, AR. 2 brothers Maurice Gavin and J. B. Gavin both of Rye, AR. 2 grandchildren Heather Sullins and spouse Rodney of Bryant, AR, Brandon Thornton of Little Rock, AR. 2 great-grandchildren Cooper and Carter Sullins.

Graveside services were 2:00 p.m. Monday July 21, in Union Cemetery at Rye, AR with Rev. David Richey officiating. Arrangements were by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Brandon Thornton, Frankie Broome, Jimmy Thornton, Rodney Sullins, Bob Thornton and Marty Thornton.
