Martha Jane Sorrels

Martha Jane Sorrels, age 85, of Atlanta, Georgia, died Sunday, June 15, at Medical Center of South Arkansas in El Dorado. Born March 12, 1929, she was the daughter of Villie Virginia Stedman and Robert Green Stedman. She was a graduate of Warren High School and Capital City Business College, and was a longtime employee of Union National Bank in Little Rock. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia, where she had lived the last fourteen years of her life. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cherri Sorrels, of Atlanta; a brother, Willis Stedman; a sister Joyce Bryant; and a great nephiew, Joseph Bryant. She is survived by two nephiews: Dr. Donnie Bryant of Warren and Bob Bryant of Camden; 2 great nieces: Julie Bryant Branch and Megan Bryant; 3 great nephiews: Jonathan Bryant, Lee Bryant and Zach Bryant. A joint memorial service was held at Saline Baptist Church for both Martha and her daughter Cherri, at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2014. Wayne Griffin was the speaker. Marilyn Riley was pianist.
