She graduated from Warren High School and from nurse's training in 1950 from Tri-State School of Nursing in Shreveport, LA. She worked in surgery and delivery at Bradley County Hospital in Warren until 1957 and the at Doren Hospital in Smackover until 1970. She then joined Warner Brown Hospital where she supervised several departments.
She later furthered her education in Psychiatric nursing at State College in Conway. Her love of nursing was the Psychiatric Department where she served as the Director of that unit at the Medical Center of South Arkansas and retired after 27 years of service.
Preceding her in death were her parents Randolph Thomas Allen and Camilla Pauline Byers Allen.
Survivors include her two daughters, Jondalyn Ann Roberts (Marshall), Rhanda Camille Wright (Bucky) and her son, Richard Allen Ray (Jennifer) all of Smackover; one sister Mary Zimmerman (Don) of Troy, MO along with six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Young's Chapel with Rev. David Preston officiating. Interment will follow at Smackover Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
